STORY
Wandering through the markets across Thailand were some of my favorite experiences of the entire trip. If you know me, you know I could slowly wander through any market for hours on end, soaking up all the sights, sounds, and smells. A mainstay of many of the Thai markets (namely Warorot Market in Chiang Mai) I visited was a triangular pillow composed of smaller triangular fabric tubes stuffed with kapok and rice straw and hand stitched together. Khit pillows are made in the rural villages, most famously in Ban Sri Than, of Yasothon Province in northeastern Thailand after the rice harvesting season is over. These colorful Khit pillows made with traditional Thai fabrics would be stacked high, creating a kaleidoscopic wall of triangles.
